  2. Thanks to every family who turned in a recipe for the OKH cookbook.  We had over 435 recipes contributed.  Cookbooks will ready in March and will cost $10.00.
  3. The boys basketball team will celebrate 8th grade night on Thursday, January 26th.  Come out and support our student athletes.
  4. Yearbook order forms will be going home this week.  Yearbooks are $21.00 or $25.00 for the student name and picture on the cover.  Please make checks payable to OKHMS.

Once again, the 8th grade Falcon Team won the coveted OKHMS Team Pride Cup.   After beating the combined 6th and 7th grade team 29-1  in a game of basketball, the Falcons continued their undefeated winning streak.  The 8th grade team also won team pride ribbons for highest percentage of reading and math goal reachers and for having the most donations at the Thanksgiving used book drive.

OKHMS Author of the Year

Marci Haydon, Instructional Coach at OKHMS, has secured the 2011-2012 OKHMS Author of the Year.  Author Andrea Warren is a non-fiction author who has written many popular middle school books with the book Surviving Hitler as one of the most popular.  The OKHMS teaching staff is focusing on the importance of teaching non-fiction reading skills to acquire new information.  Ms. Warren will be the first non-fiction author chosen as the OKHMS Author of the Year and will be visiting the school on March 13, 2012.
